Meditation for the New Earth
The prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor is told by many Indigenous communities in America. The Eagle represents Western Civilization, the Masculine and the Mind and the Condor represents the Indigenous, the Feminine and the Heart. It tells us about a time 500 years ago where the Eagle people became domineering. It was around the time when the Industrial revolution began. The prophecy tells us that during the last 500 years the Condor people would nearly be wiped out, and that we are currently at a pivotal time in the history of earth where the Eagle and the Condor can come back into balance and fly together; where we can create a new earth; where technology and ancient wisdom co-exist together and we live in harmony. The prophecy tells us about our potential and it is up to us to create the change!
When I was growing up - despite the conformity of the masses - I felt intuitive knowing that the system that we are living in does not support us. I watched the world whizzing by around me and I felt like I did not belong. Upon graduating university, with a sense of disillusionment with the world, I decided to fly to Australia and take some time out before eventually returning to the system...Little did I know, I was about to embark on a pilgrimage of the heart that would renew my faith in the world and lead me on a path of realization.
I traveled in Australasia, worked various jobs to earn money and continue along my way; driven by my curiosity of finding different ways of living.
I met many inspiring people who opened my mind to new ways of life that I couldn’t have imagined in my little bubble in England.
There were many difficult moments where I could have returned to the “safety” of a “normal” life but there was an ancient wisdom calling me. The wisdom of the heart. I let go and I trusted my heart to lead me - living on the edge of my comfort zone. The biggest trip I went on was the internal one from the mind to the heart.
I observed that in the “less developed” countries people live from the heart. They live more as one than we do in our worlds of separation in the West. More sharing. Less competition.
I quickly came to understand that there is much to learn from the Eastern traditions and ways of life. The colonizers attempted to destroy it but the ancient wisdom still remains and now we have the responsibility to share it!
What we live in is a mental construct which makes us feel safe. When many people are living within the same construct it is harder to change it. The reason it is challenging to make change is because we become addicted to our thought patterns which keep us stuck in the same routines, the same behaviors etc. and thus we reinforce the collective construct.
It is not so necessary that each of us make a journey overseas to make these discoveries; rather we can make a commitment to as little as five minutes of meditation a day. Meditation allows us to become the observer of our minds; to become aware of our thoughts, thought patterns and distractions, to slow down our mind, reframe our thoughts, then habits and behaviors. When we declutter our mind, we are able to listen to the intuitive guidance of our heart and we will be pulled in the direction of our soul's purpose on earth; our Dharma.
We each have a unique purpose on earth which will bring us back into harmony. Gardening our mind is the best investment we can make for our future.
